The cuegle is a monster in Cantabrian folklore. Walking on two legs and roughly humanoid in shape, it has black skin, three arms without hands or fingers, five rows of teeth, a single stubby horn and three eyes in its head: one green, one red, and one blue. Despite its small size, it has great strength.The cuegle attacks people and livestock, and is reputed to steal babies from the cradle. It may be protected against by placing oak or holly leaves, which it finds repulsive, in the cradle.

The Cu Bird by ~glass-candy

The Cu bird received a feather from each bird after they felt sorry for how unhappy it was with its looks. In return, the Cu bird had to become the messenger for the bird council. However, Cu began neglecting its task after it became distracted by its incredible new plumage. This angered the gods and caused the Cu bird to become so hated that it now hides in the dark, where its plumage can be seen by no one.

The Colo Colo is a serpent-like creature with an appearance like a long rat with feathers, with a head similar to that of a rooster.

In Aztec mythology, the Cihuateteo were the spirits of human women who died in childbirth (mociuaquetzque.). Childbirth was considered a form of battle, and its victims were honored as fallen warriors. Their physical remains were thought to strengthen soldiers in battle while their spirits became the much-feared Cihuateteo who accompanied the setting sun in the west. They also haunted crossroads at night, stealing children and causing sicknesses, especially seizures and madness, and seducing men to sexual misbehavior.

Their images appear with the beginning day signs of the five western trecena, (1 Deer, 1 Rain, 1 Monkey, 1 House, and 1 Eagle) during which they were thought to descend to the earth and cause particularly dangerous mischief. They are depicted with skeletal faces and with eagle claws for hands.

They are associated with the goddess Cihuacoatl and are sometimes considered envoys of Mictlan, the world of the dead. Cihuateteo are servants of the Aztec moon deities Tezcatlipoca and Tlazolteotl.

History:

Ciguapa is described as either a beautiful or ugly naked woman with dark brown or blue skin. Their long brown hair serves as its only form of clothing. They are nocturnal beings that live in the mountainous rural parts of the Dominican Republic, while there are some reported sightings of ciguapas in Cuba, they are mythical beings native to the Dominican Republic.

They are said to only come out of their lairs in the mountains rarely during a full moon to go and hunt for some farm animals to eat. They can also be found braiding horses’ manes as well as braiding fellow ciguapas’ hair late at night. Ciguapas, while resembling humans, cannot speak and only communicate using noises that sound like the crying of children that are very sorrowful for those who hear it.

What’s so weird about them?

Other than looking like an avatar minus the clothing, they like seducing men to follow them to their caves. But see, they make them really want it because their feet are backwards and it makes it hard for the men to follow their footprints.

Imagine how happy the man is when he finally gets there though. He has arrived at the cave/lair/thing of this woman who is willing to make love to him and he’s just so excited. And then in the middle of the act, the ciguapa begins to suck out his life and he dies. I really hope it was amazing for the man’s sake.

Ciguapas have a bit of a mermaid complex, which might explain how they get men to follow them. They appear as sweet nice seductive women, but in reality are vicious and deceitful. And if their physical appearance isn’t enough, then they can just use their powerful magical eyes to bewitch them.

What if I see one?

Do not look into their eyes. Once your eyes meet, you are under their spell most likely until they kill you. And it shouldn’t be too hard to distinguish them apart from other women, since they’re probably blue and naked.

(PS: I actually couldn’t find much about how to escape an untimely demise with a ciguapa, so if any of you know. Please, feel free to share and I’ll add it in!)

In her true form, the Churel is always hideous; a gruesome hag with dangling breasts, bloody claws and filthy hair. Her strangest and most apparent features are her backwards-pointing feet and her mouth. In most tales, she has jutting teeth and an unusually long, blackish tongue, but sometimes it is said that she has no mouth at all.
